The Ganesh festival is a Hindu festival. It is celebrated all over India namely the states like Maharashtra, Goa, Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh etc. It is the birthday of Lord Ganesh, who is worshiped as the god of wisdom and prosperity. You can do plenty of research about the Ganesh festival through web itself. Another name for this festival is Vinayaka Chaturthi. Two to five months before the festival, these sizable clay models of Lord Ganesh are made on the market by highly expert artists in different poses. They are beautifully decorated. Different sizes of the statue vary from one inch to 24 feet.

The Ganesh Chaturthi is an important family function before 1893. Indian freedom fighter Lokmanya Tilak transformed the Ganesh festival to an immense public event. In the coursework of the ten day festival, installation of sizable public images of Lord Ganesh in pavilions and worshiped. On the eleventh day after the festival, the giant images of Ganesh are submerged in the rivers or the sea. There were dance performances, musical concerts, poetry recitals etc to attract all castes of people to make the function a grand success on all the ten days.
